Just wanted to know if anybody else is a music buff.

I play Bb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contra Clarinet, Tenor and Alto Sax, Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar both upright and electric, piano, and most percussive intruments(drum set, snare, tenors, marching bass, and other dinky things like cowbell and crap. lol)
I've been in music since 5th grade, almost ten years now.
I'm preparing Gigue and Double for the recital for college coming in February. For those of you not familiar with Bach, here ya go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDXznf-sk-g

How about you guys?

Sorry for the double post, but it won't let me edit...

The part after about 1:30, where he takes a break, is extended. I'm pretty sure it is either improvised or post-written, because it isn't a part of the original score. Regardless, it's impressive. Sadly, I'm not quite that good yet.

Echo,
I have also been a musician since the 5th grade. I play the violin (I was 1st violin in 6th grade lol). I sing a bit as well as write my own lyrics. I also play electric guitar as well as accoustic but i prefer my Les Paul (my baby) over an accoustic. I play a variety of music but I excel in metal, and more rythmic genres. I have been playing guitar for about 3 to 4 years now but I am not as good as I should be at the moment because I have not plIayed in a couple of months due to Drivers Education, and all the homework I have been getting lately. But I am glad I have someone who has similar intrests in the clan. Thanks for your time.
-Hunter

Cool. I used to be into the metal scene. I used to have bands trying to recruit me from school(I'd bring my guitar any chance I could, lol) But after I got my Crafter acoustic I've developed an acoustic style. I love playing flamenco and other finger-picking styles. It takes so much more than just pure speed to be able to do it. If you don't know at least a little bit of theory behind why these chords and such work, you will have such a hard time. Metal is pretty much written by numbers, so it is a lot easier.

To prove my point:

LOW BRASS KICKS ASS!!!

Well i played french horn, trumpet, and a little barritone in H.S. but i primarily play tuba. Went to University of Wisconsin as a music major for a couple years. Settled for just playin in local bands for fun. Moved to PA 7 years ago and havn't played since. Soloing "Hall of the Mtn King" by yourself is all i do now.<sigh> My chops wouldn't be worth a darn anymore.

Old post yes, but I've never cruised these forums.. I play guitar and have for about 14 years now. I play drums, bass, sing and keys/piano. As for gear I have: a 1962 Fender Stratocaster in Shell Pink, a 1961 reissue Gibson SG, a Fender Jazz Bass, a Pearl Export Drum kit, a 1971 Fender Rhodes MKI, and lots of pedals. As for amps these I lack but I've got a Blackheart 5w/3w stack, a 55watt Fender Bassman, and a VT22 100w Ampeg from 1972, all tubed of course.
